SERVICES

I have been a Clinical Psychologist in Austin, Texas for over twenty-five years. I enjoy working with children, teenagers, adults and families in any capacity. Initially I specialized with children, teenagers and families, but expanded my work when I realized that adults would also benefit from my knowledge with developmental trauma and attachment. I have always used an interpersonal (relational) model in my practice, based on developmental and attachment theory. I seek to use a holistic framework in both my professional career and personal life. It is important to me to support my clients through trauma, grief and help them navigate how to integrate all of the parts of themselves. Dr. Levine's theory supports what I already believe is important in terms of integrating the physical, emotional and cognitive parts of ourselves. I work from the belief that interpersonal experiences affect our relationships and the way we interact with others. I also have a strong background in family systems. This helps to facilitate communication when there is a disruption in the system (such as divorce, adoption, death or many other factors). I have also done work with families around intergenerational trauma.

As a psychologist, I offer collaborative psychological evaluations which involve questions from the client, family members and providers (specialists, therapists, and psychiatrists among others). As in my individual and family therapy, it is important to offer an integrative approach which addresses the "whole" person.

I became familiar with Dr. Levine's theory early in my practice and I taught the theory when I was an Adjunct Professor at several Austin universities. I found that all of my clients had experienced some type of trauma and a majority of my clients were working to regulate their emotions due to feeling triggered or activated. Dr. Levine's language is comforting to clients of all ages. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, I decided to obtain my Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) certificate and put the theory into practice.

As an SEP, I have a different understanding of the brain and the nervous system that compliments the relational and attachment work I have been doing for so many years. I find it is important to be with the client in the "here and now" as we (the client and myself) work collaboratively; being curious and exploring together. I look forward to working with you.
